Parent Groups

Parent groups are organized and managed by parents/family members of students with disabilities in the school system where the group resides.  These groups serve as sources of information and support about special education concerns in their counties and may also work to advocate for system-level improvements on behalf of students with disabilities. Activities of these parent groups may include but are not limited to: parent leadership trainings, workshops on particular policy issues, meetings with school district staff and elected officials, and sessions about specific advocacy concerns or strategies.

SEAC is currently working to establish parent groups in DavidsonLawrence, and Wilson counties.  If you are interested in joining a group in one of these counties or in helping to get a parent group off the ground in your area, please call us at 615.777.8515.
